The Weight of Things brings together Katie Robinson’s distinctive painting style with her unique form of storytelling. Each work is painted on a recycled substrate—materials already rich with their own story. The paintings explore the Central Otago landscape, which underpins Katie’s deep connection to place, alongside objects and mementos chosen by others for their personal significance. This is a show about the weight of the things, places, and people we hold dear.

Meet Katie

I’m a painter based in both Alexandra, Central Otago and in Auckland, New Zealand.

I have a great desire to connect - with place, with people, and with energy. This is what fuels my art practice. I paint with colour and humour and emotion about my sense of place.
